Frequently asked questions:

1. Do I need a work permit in the Czech Republic
if I am a EU citizen?

No, as a citizen of the EU you don’t need a work
permit in the Czech Republic.

2. Do I need a visa as a EU citizen?

As a EU citizen you don’t need a visa for stays in the
Czech Republic. However for the duration of a stay is
over 3 months, you should apply (though it is not a duty)
for the confirmation of temporary residence or permanent
residence.

3. What is the tax rate in the Czech Republic?

Every tax resident with a legal residence permit in the CR must pay taxes
and health insurance from their income. The income tax represents the main
tax duty. It is divided into the income tax of natural persons and the income tax
of legal entities, with different tax rates. The income tax of natural persons has
a flat 15% rate. The rate is the same for wage earners and self-employed people.
The current income tax of legal entities is 19 %.

4. I am a professor from Iraq, living in the Czech Republic with my family since December 2005. I would like to become a Czech citizen. What are the requirements?

All information regarding your request for the Czech citizenship is at your disposal on the website of the Mnistry of the Interior (in Czech).
In brief:
You must live in the Czech Republic at least 5 years.
You must prove you have lost your temporary citizenship.
You must prove your knowledge of the Czech language, based on an interview.
With an application, you must submit your personal documents and the documents of your family members, including CVs.
The application is submitted to the Regional Authority (Krajský úřad) based your residential address.

5. I am a foreign researcher from a non-member country of the EU. I need a visa for a one-year stay. How can I arrange it? 
 
For this purpose you can use the Scientific Visa Package.
Documents needed:
Hosting Agreement (the Hosting Agreement is an agreement issued by a public or private approved research organisation in the Member State, to undertake a research project. The research organisation can only sign a hosting agreement with a researcher if there are funds available for the research and they are satisfied with the researcher's scientific skills.),

– written obligation by the host organisation (necessary annex to the Hosting Agreement),

– travel health insurance until the first day of employment in the Czech Republic,

– criminal record from the country of origin,

– travel document (passport),

– 2 pictures,

– filled in GREEN application form.
