About

Outline

This 3 year PhD studentship, funded by the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, will focus on meta-scientific studies of Registered Reports (https://cos.io/rr/).

In particular, the project will focus on the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions to facilitate uptake of Registered Reports by journals and authors and monitor quality. Specific elements will include an editorial policy builder to facilitate journal adoption across different fields, a study design template to improve the rigour and reproducibility of Registered Report protocols, and web-based tools for channelling community advocacy and collating feedback from authors. The research will evaluate the efficacy of these tools and interventions using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.

The student will be supervised by Chris Chambers in the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. The student will also will become one of a network of doctoral students supported by the UK Reproducibility Network, based across Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and Edinburgh.
