Professor Lewys Jones of the School of Physics, Trinity College Dublin (https://www.tcd.ie/Physics/), Dublin, Ireland is interested in receiving expressions of interest for potential candidates for the Marie Sklodowska – Curie Individual Fellowship (MSCA – IF) 2019 call.
Professor Jones leads the Ultramicroscopy group (https://www.tcd.ie/Physics/research/groups/ultramicroscopy/) based at the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (https://www.tcd.ie/crann/aml/), part of the CRANN Institute (https://www.tcd.ie/crann/) and AMBER Centre (http://ambercentre.ie/). The group focusses on examining today’s state-of-the-art characterisation and asking ‘what comes next?’. The group is specialised in developing new high-precision imaging and spectroscopy acquisition and data-processing techniques based around the aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM).
Prof. Jones is a Co-director of the SFI-EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Characterisation (http://cdt-acm.org/) and the group actively engages in graduate training for advanced electron microscopy.
Ideal candidates to join the group under this scheme may have one of a range of backgrounds including; atomic-resolution STEM imaging and spectroscopy, image-processing and programming, machine-learning and computer vision, magnetic/electric field simulation, or electronics and applied signal-processing. Projects related to any of the groups activities are welcomed.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Prof. Jones (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) a letter of interest with:
