Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour
Fulltime, 40 hours/week
Starting December 01, 2026, and ending after 3 years

The Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour, as part of the Department of Management, is dedicated to studying human behaviour in organisations. We particularly focus on research questions that relate to promoting positive behaviour in organisations and that enable individuals to reach their full potential and experience greater well-being at work. We also consider the contextual embeddedness of human behaviour at work, by studying the impact of emerging societal and technical developments and grand challenges, such as AI, changing workplace practices and preferences (e.g., WFH), political/economic uncertainty, and sustainability, on (positive) human behaviour in organisations. What to expect

• Conduct research: You will actively contribute to the institute’s research projects on organisational behaviour and further develop your own ideas.
• Teach and support courses: You will teach and support courses in OB, for example in the existing SBWL programme of the institute (on the BSc level) as well as in the Department of Management’s Master programme.
• Supervise master’s and bachelor’s theses: You co-supervise master’s and independently supervise bachelor’s theses. 
• Support organisation and administration: You will help fulfill the institute’s administrative responsibilities.
• Work as part of a team: You will join a team of committed researchers who collaboratively advance research projects.
• Benefit from a strong research environment: You will work in an excellent, internationally connected team that supports you in developing your own projects, advancing publications, and expanding your network.

What you have to offer

• Doctoral degree: You have successfully completed your doctoral degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related subject area, with a focus on Organisational Behaviour, or Work & Organisational Psychology, and demonstrate a strong commitment to research through promising publication projects. Peer-reviewed presentations at academic conferences and initial publications in journals listed on the WU Star Journal List or the Department of Management Journal List are an advantage.
• Passion for research: You are highly motivated to pursue an academic career and aim to publish your work in reputable scholarly journals.
• Relevant expertise and experience: You bring knowledge in areas that meaningfully connect with the focus of the Institute, such as investigating positive behaviours at work (e.g., motivation, proactivity/job crafting), or affect/well-being/meaningfulness in organisations. Ideally, you also have experience in studying human behaviour ‘in context’.
• Research methodology: You have in-depth training in quantitative methods including experience with common software tools (e.g., Mplus, R, Stata, SPSS) and/or qualitative research methods (e.g., grounded theory, thematic analysis). You have a clear understanding of the strengths and limitations of different methodological approaches. Ideally, you have some experience in using multi-method approaches in field research.
• Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
• Teaching in German: You are also able and willing to teach courses in German.
• International experience and language skills: You can demonstrate international exposure in your studies. Strong English skills (both verbal and written) are mandatory.
• Digital skills: You are confident using standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, video conferencing tools) and can quickly learn new systems.
• Engagement: You work independently, are organised, take initiative, and are excited to contribute as a team player.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €5,014.30 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
