Offer Description
This Part Time Post-Doctoral Position is available for 12 months at the Medical University – Varna.
The Medical University – Varna, Bulgaria, is looking for a Post-doctoral fellow to join the research team of the Principal Investigator (PI) Prof. Manlio Vinciguerra, at the newly established Research Institute of MU-Varna (RIMUV). Prof. Manlio Vinciguerra leads a newly established and outstanding team of researchers, to improve the excellence of the research and innovation landscape in Bulgaria, working on basic and clinical research involving non communicable disease (cardiovascular, cancer) and stem cells.
The appointee will have responsibility for conducting research studies, in a stimulating and international environment, in the frame of the PREVALUNG project, funded by Horizon Europe, which develops predictive biomarkers associated with lung cancer risk.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Working in close collaboration with the PI Prof. Manlio Vinciguerra, he/she will participate in, and develop on a day-to-day basis, in the development and validation of robust biomarkers (epigenetic liquid biopsies) for cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Skills/Qualifications
- Holding a PhD in molecular biology/cellular biology/experimental neurosciences/experimental cardiology, or related disciplines, is essential.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: neuroinflammation, oncology, signaling, epigenetics, and experimental cell biology.
- Previous pertinent publication track is desirable.
- Fluent command of English.
Specific Requirements
- PhD degree, obtained within 3 years prior to application date.
- Fluency in English is essential
- Fluency in Bulgarian to communicate with local clinicians is essential
- Knowledge of other common EU languages (Italian or French etc) to communicate with clinicians of the consortium is an advantage
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work with biological material from various sources (biopsies, primary cell cultures)
- High dexterity for laboratory work
- Previous experience with in vitro models is essential
- Professional and meticulous

Salary – 2600 euro gross per month for full time contract.
