PhD Fellowship “Development of modules for improving carbonaceous aerosol simulations by explicitly considering atmospheric brown carbon in a 3-d global ESM”

The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences, Foundation of Research and Technology - Hellas, (FORTH/ICE-HT) is seeking applicants for one PhD Fellowship in the context of the research project “Constrained aerosol forcing for improved climate projections (FORCes)” which is implemented under the EU-Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Action.


Job Description

To conduct research in the framework of the aforementioned project "FORCeS". The main objective of FORCeS is to improve climate predictions by constraining aerosol forcing. The objective of this job is to develop the modules for the simulation of atmospheric brown carbon in 3-d global ESM.


Location: FORTH/ICE-HT, Patras, Greece

Duration: 12 months, with the potential of renewal

Salary: 845 Euros per month

Envisaged starting date: 1/7/2020


Requirements and Qualifications

The candidate is required to hold a Diploma in Chemistry. Moreover, the candidate must be fluent in both Greek and English, in order to meet working conditions.

The evaluation of the candidacies will be based on the following criteria and qualifications:

Diploma Grade

MSc in Environmental Sciences and Engineering


Master of Science, Grade

Proven modelling experience in atmospheric chemistry simulations using 3-D global chemistry and transport models.


Duration of proven research experience in research groups and projects.

Selection Procedure

Applications that are received on time will be evaluated by a scientific committee using the criteria mentioned above. If necessary, certain candidates will be invited to a personal interview with the committee.
