Project Description:

The Department of Economic and Managerial Studies of the Faculty of Arts at Palacký University Olomouc seeks an innovative researcher to investigate how different communities understand and engage with economic knowledge. Building on recent methodological developments in qualitative research on public understanding of economics, this project will examine how economic expertise is understood, contested, and potentially bridged across different social groups. The research will combine rigorous qualitative methods with theoretical insights from science and technology studies, economic sociology, and political economy.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with participatory or deliberative research methods
• Background in studying public understanding of expert knowledge
• Familiarity with economic concepts and debates
• Track record of policy-relevant research
• Experience in research dissemination to non-academic audiences

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in social sciences (e.g., sociology, political economy, science and technology studies) for no longer than 8 years by 9/2025
• Strong background in qualitative research methods
• Demonstrated experience with interview-based research and/or focus groups
• Track record of engaging with economic and policy issues
• Excellent communication skills
